Dipl. Produktdesigner Jens Denecke, Hamburg



Jens Denecke raised in Hamburg / Germany, studied Product Design - Diploma with Prof. Richard Sapper - at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.

After working on different freelance projects in the fields of Interior, Product and Furniture design, he moved 1996 to New York City to start working as a Product Manager for Furniture at Polo Ralph Lauren Home Collection Design, later got promoted to Design Director for Lighting, Table Top and Accessories. At Polo he learned how to create lifestyles including their coherent, branded products and travelled internationally to ensure and supervise the developing of high quality manufacturing standards.

Jens volonteered to teach in Spring 2000 at the East Harlem School the basic function and Design of every day items and created his first home collection for Dune's new showroom in Tribeca, shown in Spring 2001.

Recommanded by Philippe Starck he design directed - as a subcontractor - the construction and manufacturing of the Restaurant dining furniture of Ian Schrager's Hudson Hotel in New York, reference lifestyle: convent school.
For Williams-Sonoma Inc. he developed as a Design Director for furniture and lighting a new high end, lifestyle brand.

Spring 2003 he opens his own business in Europe again, working for clients such as Villeroy & Boch in lifestyle driven product themes and designs exquisite manufactured, luxury goods for Theresienthal Crystal and Ludwig Schröder Leather Manufacturer.

His first leather collection won the red dot award 2010.

Today he lives with his wife and his two boys in Hamburg.
